enchanted forest fairy bothy pincushion
A bothy is a very small primitive shelter built from local materials and usually found dotting the landscape of Scotland. In the Enchanted Forest that borders the village of Wits End there are many such dwellings built from branches, tree stumps, leaves and rocks. They are available for anyone passing through the forest to use and it looks like someone is staying in this one as there is warm candlelight through the window. This bothy is constructed around a tree stump with a roof of leafy branches. I imagine in the Springtime there are flowers growing on the roof. There is a carpet of springy moss around the little shelter and some stepping stones. When you are in the Enchanted Forest and you see stepping stones, it's always wise to use them. Red and white mushrooms provide a spot to sit and put your shoes on or sip a cup of tea while watching daylight fade and soften into the inky velvet of night. This perfectly camouflaged shelter is stitched onto a deep blue top. Each tiny leaf is individually cut by hand and carefully stitched in place. The side is mossy green and the underside is lighter blue.
This pincushion measures 3.5inches in diameter and stands approximately 2.25inches tall. It is made from 100% wool felt and stuffed with premium polyfil.
