Frost Fairy Cottage
Have you ever seen frost on windows or on your car with intricate patterns of swirls and feathers? It doesn't just happen. Frost fairies paint those designs with crystal wands from high in the Blue Mountains where the dragons live. This fairy cottage was built by a frost fairy and it looks very much like a fairytale gingerbread cottage. Who knows, maybe this is the cottage that inspired the original gingerbread stories.
This cottage has gingerbread colored felt walls, lace trim icicles and a glittering frosty roof. There are red and white mushrooms by the door and magical Winter roses around the door. On the very top of the roof is a red and white mushroom chimney.
All felt used is 100% wool felt, some is hand dyed. Each tiny flower and leaf is individually cut by hand and then carefully appliquéd and embroidered in place.
This cottage measures 2.5 inches in diameter (at the base) and stands approximately 4.75 inches tall (to the top of the chimney). All my pincushions are stuffed with premium ultra-plush polyester fill and these tree stump pincushions have a sturdy circle of interfacing in the base to help keep them stable.
