Sunflower Cottage pincushion

Every pincushion tells a story.
This is obviously a magical little fairy house since the sunflowers are in full bloom and it is most definitely not the right season for that! This little cottage is tucked away in the corner of one of the rare sunny glades in the Enchanted Forest. A fairy with a love of yellow flowers and the bees that frequent them has made a home here. I'm pretty sure she has a traditional bee skep for the bees and in return they keep her in delicious sunflower honey. There are little red and white mushrooms thriving in the shade beneath the sunflowers and one growing on the top of the pincushion.

For the "bark" of this tree stump pincushion, I've used lovely dark brown, hand dyed felted wool. All other felt used is traditional 100% wool felt. Each tiny piece is individually cut by hand and then carefully appliquéd and embroidered in place. The top has embroidered tree rings.

This tree stump measures 2.5 inches in diameter and stands approximately 4 inches tall (to the top of the mushroom). All my pincushions are stuffed with premium ultra-plush polyester fill and these tree stump pincushions have a sturdy circle of interfacing in the base to help keep them stable.
